When This Notice Applies
This Third Party Panel Privacy Notice applies to you if you are an individual ("Panelist") who has been sourced through one of our trusted third-party partners ("Panel Providers") to complete a market validation poll for a SegmentOS user ("Creator").
When you complete a poll, the Creator is the business responsible for collecting and processing your personal data (the "data controller"). SegmentOS acts as the technology platform that processes this data on their behalf (the "data processor").
Why Did I Receive a SegmentOS Poll?
The most likely reason is that you have signed up with a third-party Panel Provider to take surveys in exchange for an incentive. We partner with these providers to find relevant Panelists, like you, to respond to polls created by our users. We do not receive your name or contact information from the Panel Provider; they facilitate sending our Creator's poll to you.
Your Panel Provider is responsible for protecting your personal data and will have its own privacy notice that you should consult.
Personal Data We Collect
Panelist Profile Data: Our Panel Provider receives a profile of the type of Panelist a Creator is looking for (e.g., specific age, gender, location, or professional role). When you take a poll, we know that you match the characteristics of that profile.
Poll Response Data: We collect the answers you provide to the poll questions. This data is owned by the Creator. While we do not actively seek to identify you, it is possible that your responses, in combination with other information, could identify you.
Metadata: We automatically receive technical data from the device you use to access a poll, such as your IP address, operating system, and browser type. We use this to ensure the poll functions correctly and to prevent fraud.
How and Why We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
To ensure you only take a specific poll once (unless the Creator allows multiple responses).
To analyze aggregate trends from de-identified data for our own business insights.
To maintain the security of our system (e.g., preventing spam and abuse).
To provide the Creator with your anonymized poll responses in their results dashboard.
Machine Learning: We may use machine learning techniques on aggregated and de-identified poll responses to improve our services and analyze trends. This analysis does not contain your personal data.
How We Share Your Data With
The Creator: Your poll responses will be shared with the Creator who requested the poll. We prohibit Creators from asking for your name or contact information in their polls. If a Creator asks for this information, please contact us.
SegmentOS Group: The information we collect may be shared with companies within the SegmentOS group to provide and improve our services.
De-identified Information: We may publish our analysis of aggregated poll responses and research results. These publications will never contain your personal data.
Your Rights Over Your Data
Because the Creator is the data controller of your poll responses, you must contact them directly to exercise your rights (such as accessing, correcting, or deleting your data).
Because the Panel Provider is the data controller of your panelist account, you must contact them directly regarding your account information.
If you are having trouble finding the Creator or have other questions, you can contact our support team, and we will do our best to assist you.
