Market research has always forced a choice. You could use a form builder that was easy but shallow — fine for a contact form, useless for a pricing study. Or you could pay an agency $5,000–$15,000 for a single study, wait weeks, and hand over control of your own questions. Everyone in between — brand managers, product teams, founders, UX researchers — got stuck stitching tools together: one app to build the survey, a separate vendor to find respondents, a spreadsheet to make sense of the results.

We rebuilt SegmentOS to close that gap. The new version brings the survey builder and the audience panel into one platform, adds research methodologies that used to live only inside agencies, and puts quality controls on by default. This post walks through what's new and why it matters.

The core idea: builder and panel in one tool

The single biggest change in this release is that you no longer leave SegmentOS to find people to take your survey.

In most workflows, the survey tool and the respondent panel are two different companies. You design your study in one place, export it, set up a separate account with a panel vendor, reconcile the targeting, then export responses back out to analyze them. Every handoff is a place for things to break — mismatched quotas, lost screening logic, respondents who don't match who you asked for.

SegmentOS now does both. You build the survey, define your audience — age, gender, location, and more — and launch to a panel of 30M+ verified respondents across 127 countries without ever switching tools. The same screening and quota logic you set in the builder governs who actually enters the survey. Responses flow straight into the analytics view as they come in.

Pricing for panel responses starts at $0.73 per response for consumer studies, and the cost is shown before you launch. B2B audiences are priced by targeting criteria. There are no surprise invoices after the fact — you see what a study will cost before you commit to it.

If you already have an audience — a customer list, a community, a social following — you don't need the panel at all. Share a link, send email invitations from inside the platform, and the same builder and analytics work exactly the same way. The panel is there when you need reach you don't already have.

Research-grade templates, not just form fields

A blank survey is a trap. It's easy to write leading questions, skip the screeners that keep bad data out, and end up with results you can't trust. So the new SegmentOS ships with 17 research templates that encode how each study is actually supposed to be run.

These aren't cosmetic starting points. They include the methodologies that research agencies build their fees around:

  • Pricing Study uses the Van Westendorp Price Sensitivity Meter — the four-question model that produces an acceptable price range instead of a single guess.

  • Conjoint Analysis measures feature trade-offs and willingness to pay, so you learn what people will actually give up to get something else.

  • Brand Tracking sets up an awareness funnel designed to run monthly or quarterly, so you can watch perception move over time rather than taking a single snapshot.

Beyond those, the library covers brand awareness, brand perception and diagnostics, concept and product testing, customer satisfaction (CSAT), ad testing, website and UX feedback, loyalty scoring, post-purchase and exit surveys, event feedback, and employee satisfaction and pulse studies. Each template comes with industry-standard questions, screeners, attention checks, and auto-disqualification logic already built in. You can launch one as-is or use it as a methodologically sound foundation and edit from there. From template to live survey takes under two minutes.

Four templates are available on the free plan; all 17 are included on Premium and Pro.

Quality controls that are on before you think about them

Bad respondents are the quiet killer of survey data. Someone who speeds through without reading, answers the same survey twice, or fails an obvious attention check can skew a result without you ever knowing.

The new SegmentOS treats data quality as a default, not an add-on. Every template and custom survey can enforce:

  • Attention checks with auto-disqualification for respondents who aren't paying attention

  • Screener questions that filter out unqualified respondents automatically

  • Speeding detection that disqualifies people who complete a survey suspiciously fast

  • Quota management to cap responses by demographic group so no segment is over-represented

  • Duplicate prevention using device fingerprinting to stop the same person responding twice

These run quietly in the background. The point is that you don't have to be a trained researcher to get research-quality data — the guardrails are already in place.

A builder that handles real research logic

The drag-and-drop builder now supports 17 question types — from single and multiple choice to rating scales, Likert scales, matrix/grid, ranking, sliders, a 0–10 loyalty score, and more — plus display blocks for text, images, and video embeds.

What makes it a research tool rather than a form tool is the logic underneath:

  • Skip logic routes respondents to different questions, or disqualifies them, based on their answers.

  • Section logic shows or hides entire sections conditionally.

  • Answer piping pulls a previous answer into a later question — "You mentioned Coca-Cola earlier; how would you rate it?" — so the survey feels personal and stays relevant.

  • A flow-chart view maps the whole branching structure visually, so you can see exactly where every respondent can go.

  • Randomization shuffles question or section order to reduce order bias.

You build all of this with no code, and preview it in real time across desktop, tablet, and mobile frames before anyone sees it.

AI where it actually saves time

Two places in the workflow eat hours: translating a survey for international audiences, and reading through results to find the story. The new release puts AI on both.

One-click translation covers 27 languages, including right-to-left languages like Arabic and Hebrew. Hit AI Translate All and the entire survey is translated at once; you can then review and fine-tune any individual question, and track translation coverage per language so nothing ships half-finished. Respondents are automatically served the survey in their browser language, with a fallback to the original.

AI analysis runs per question, surfacing automated insights and patterns so you're not staring at raw cross-tabs trying to spot what moved. Combined with response-volume trends, completion-rate tracking, per-question charts, NPS breakdowns, and a browsable respondent table, the analytics view is built to get you from "responses are in" to "here's what we learned" quickly. Raw data exports to CSV or XLSX on Premium and above.

Transparent, self-serve pricing

The new SegmentOS is self-serve from day one. No sales call, no demo requirement, no annual contract to get started.

  • Free — $0: up to 5 surveys, 500 responses a month, 4 templates. Enough to run a real study.

  • Premium — $29/mo: unlimited surveys and responses, all 17 templates, every question type, multi-language, scoring and quotas, branding removal, and full CSV/XLSX export.

  • Pro — $79/mo: everything in Premium plus the audience panel, white-labeling, API access, and priority support.

Panel responses are billed separately at the per-response rates above, always shown before launch.

For context, that puts a full Van Westendorp pricing study or brand-tracking program — the kind agencies charge thousands per wave for — within reach of a monthly subscription you can cancel anytime.

Who this is for

The rebuild was shaped around the people who kept hitting the gap between form tools and agencies:

  • Brand teams running awareness, perception, and tracking studies

  • Product teams validating concepts, testing features, and measuring price sensitivity

  • CX and marketing teams measuring CSAT, NPS, post-purchase feedback, and ad effectiveness

  • HR teams running employee satisfaction and recurring pulse surveys

  • Agencies and researchers who want a white-label tool to deliver studies to clients

If you've been choosing between a survey tool that's too shallow and an agency that's too expensive, the new SegmentOS is built to be the thing in the middle that's actually good enough to trust.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is SegmentOS?

SegmentOS is a survey research platform that combines a no-code survey builder with a built-in audience panel. You design a study, choose who should answer it, and launch to 30M+ verified respondents across 127 countries — or to your own audience — without switching tools. It's built for brand, product, CX, and HR research rather than basic forms.

How is SegmentOS different from Typeform, SurveyMonkey, or Qualtrics?

Form tools like Typeform and SurveyMonkey are easy but lack research-grade methodology, a built-in panel, and quality controls. Qualtrics has the methodology but requires an enterprise contract and a sales process. SegmentOS sits in between: agency-grade methods (Van Westendorp, Conjoint, Brand Tracking), a panel built in, and quality controls on by default — fully self-serve, no demo required.

How much does SegmentOS cost?

There are three plans: Free ($0) with up to 5 surveys, 500 responses a month, and 4 templates; Premium ($29/mo) with unlimited surveys and responses, all 17 templates, and multi-language; and Pro ($79/mo), which adds the audience panel, white-labeling, and API access. Panel responses are billed separately starting at $0.73 each, and the cost is always shown before you launch.

Do I need my own audience to use it?

No. If you have a customer list, community, or following, you can share a link or send email invitations from inside the platform. If you don't, the Pro plan's audience panel lets you buy responses from 30M+ respondents with demographic targeting. Either way, the same builder, quality controls, and analytics apply.

Do I need to be a trained researcher to get reliable data?

No. The 17 templates come with industry-standard questions, screeners, and auto-disqualification logic already built in, and quality controls — attention checks, speeding detection, quota management, and duplicate prevention — run by default. The guardrails that keep bad data out are in place before you start.
